Broughton Castle in Oxfordshire is essentially a family home lived in by Lord and Lady Saye and Sele and their family, The original medieval manor house, of which remains today, was built in abot 1300 by Sir John de Broughton. It stands on an island site surrounded by a 3 acre moat. The castle was greatly enlarged between 1550 and 1600, at which time it was embellished with a magnificent plaster ceilings, splendid panelling and fine fireplaces.
