Montova (Mantua) was an island settlement which was first established about the year 2000 BC on the banks of River Mincio, which flows from Lake Garda to the Adriatic Sea. In the 6th century BC the city had many grand Palazzo's and churches. The Bibiena Theatre, made by Antonio Bibiena in 1767-1769, was opened in December 1769, and on 16 January 1770 the thirteen-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart played a concert here.
