Tewkesbury Abbey was founded in 1087 by nobleman Robert FitzHamon, although building to house a group of Benedictine Monks did not start work until 1102. Today the Abbey boasts the largest Norman church tower in existence measuring 14 metres square and 45 metre high, and is also famous for the medieval stained glass in its seven quire windows.
